Michigan Amphibian & Reptile Best Management Practices
HRM created the Michigan Amphibian and Reptile Best Management Practices (BMPs) Third Edition for EGLE to provide the most comprehensive and up-to-date guide available for the conservation and management of Michigan’s amphibian and reptile populations. Building upon the success of previous editions, the Third Edition significantly expands the manual with finalized BMP categories, updated scientific research, enhanced restoration guidance, and new sections addressing habitat connectivity, water quality, dam drawdowns, lake level alterations, and riverine herpetofauna conservation. The manual was expanded by more than 100 pages of new content, illustrations, scientific resources, and technical guidance, making it one of the most comprehensive herpetofauna conservation resources available for Michigan and the broader Great Lakes region.
